3 things to bring more clarity when you feel uncertainty2 min read

Fear and uncertainty can trigger your nervous system, putting it on high alert.

This results in stress hormones coursing through our bodies, which then create a fight, flight, or freeze response.

And in this state, it’s very difficult to get clarity we seek when we feel groundlessness.

This can lead to feelings of stuckness, procrastination, anxiety, overeating/overdrinking, and difficulty sleeping, to name a few.

We feel confused and often unsure of what to do next.  So what can you do?

First of all, be easy with yourself.

Right now, observe what comes up when you notice certain feelings arise.

No need to judge or analyze them. Just simple curiosity.

Take a deep breath with me now.

Here are 3 things that can make a big difference:

  1. Build mental stamina through meditation

In times of uncertainty, we must build the mental stamina to navigate what lies ahead.

So much begins with the mind.

A consistent, daily meditation practice is one of the most effective ways to build that mental stamina, helping you to become far less reactive to typical stress triggers and navigating them more easefully.

  1. Get back to the basics.

And as it is important to tend to the mind, it is important to tend to our physical bodies.

Be sure you are hydrating well and drinking plenty of water.

Eat well; whole, fresh and unprocessed food. If you find yourself eating “junk” food for comfort, gently ask yourself what may be causing you to do so.

Be sure to take breaks.

Connect with those that make you feel loved, supported, and safe.

It’s hard to think clearly when we aren’t tending to the basics. These things are so simple, yet so powerful.

  1. Take the next best step.

When uncertain of what to do next, what you’ll find is that taking the next best step will give you more information on where to take the next one.

And then the next.

Like headlights in the fog, consistent and imperfect action helps bring more clarity, bit by bit.
